Who are you?.....

The neighborhood I’m originally from is in Hayward. It’s not too bad of a neighborhood because of the elderly that lives around. Yes it’s very diverse and there was always a bunch of kids outside no matter what. Then on the other hand once the street lights come on, almost every night there was a robbery going on or either some type of gun shots too close to my residence. I’m honestly not sure if where your from guides who you will be, I do believe that a lot of people become a product of their environment only due to money. In my eyes money is the reason people are the way they are today, Neighborhoods too. If I were to say people become who they are because of their neighborhood I would have to assume whether there neighborhood was good or bad, if bad then most would conclude that the person living there would be ghetto, or the person would be striving in multiples ways to get out of the neighborhood by working hard or even going to school, which is the case in lots of situations. Even if the person was raised in a middle class neighborhood with few problems, one would assume that they would be somewhat successful and out of trouble.
This is not always the case. But I can say I am who I am today despite where I was radiate. Both my parents were born and raised in hoods, my father was born and raised in Detroit projects, where trouble knocked at your door every day. My mother was born and raised in the Fillmore district of S.F. Both of them do have there "ghetto" sides as people would say, but also know how to present themselves professionally. Those skills are what they input into me and my younger brother. Some can barely tell I have had troubles in my past from the way I present myself, because I don't want people stereotyping me from my looks or my attitude. I can say the only Influence on my life would have to be from my parents and the ones who I surrounded myself every day. Even with that statement, things weren't how they appeared, because my best friends were raised in worst places and now they are off in different parts of America going to 4 year colleges. I AM WHO I AM DESPITE WHERE I CAME FROM.

  1. Hi Malcolm. Great writing. I can tell you put a lot of effort into getting your thoughts out. Now put as much into proofreading your writing BEFORE you publish.
