Internship

When going to internship I know that my professional skills will be the first skill that I will have to showcase to my best ability. Mainly,due to all the co-workers and managers I will be meeting. Anticipating going to my internship; not knowing where I'm going but anxious to get there, I have one question. "What will I be learning at the internship." Everyday I wonder what new stuff I will learn that I haven't been taught at Yearup.
I still Think about where I will be going as much as anyone else, but I hope I still have a professional environment to work in. The feeling of a professional environment makes the job feel so much more important.
Hoping that I do get hired on after my internship, I'm not banking on it. If I'm not hired on, I plan to go back to school full time and find a job full time. So I can finish pursuing my my career in IT.

LA living

For new years, I went to Los Angeles to be with my closest friends. Ive been to LA about 5 times in my lifetime, and every time I'm there,I have the time of my life. This Being my first time in LA for a holiday, we didn't do much. Just being together for the first time in months made it that much more fun. Since the Rosebowl going on in Pasadena; which was were I was staying, there were a bunch of activities going on. So for the first time being together with my closest friends and also all being 21 made all the events even better.

Christmas with the Burtons

My father had to work on Christmas day for the first time, knowing that we had to go to Sacramento this year to see the rest of my family, we didnt end up going to Sacramento until 6 that evening. Once we arrived to my Aunts house in Sacramento everyone's facial expressions weren't too inviting. Come to find out, everyone was waiting for us to arrive so they could eat. Having not eaten a big festive meal in months, I anticipated the moment I got to sit at the big table and fill my plate with as much as food possible. Once I did that, I ate more than half of my plate until I realized I was not Capable of eating anymore. The moment I knew I was done I filled my plate once again, and packed it to go. As I looked around the room everyone had the same plan which caused chaos in the kitchen.

Christmas Day

This was my first Christmas without a Christmas tree. It's been a big part of my family bonding to decorate the tree. The family and I agreed that it left a small part of emptiness in our hearts, and took away a large part of our holiday spirit. The only reason we weren't able to get a tree this year was due to the fact that we were moving into our new home. I'm positive that we will never go another year without a tree, at least we won't while I'm still living there.

Internship readiness

Someone who is internship ready is well mannered. They also understand when to be professional and how to dress professionally. A internship ready person knows their position,meaning they're internship is a interview; they are there to please and show initiative. Another quality is being able to listen and follow directions as told. They also put 100% in all the work they are assigned to.
In module 3 I plan to begin making sure I show the best internship readiness qualities as possible. I plan to make sure I am in class with 3 minutes or more to spare. In addition, being prepared once I take my seat with all my materials out is another task I will be doing. Another way I plan to demonstrate internship readiness is by controlling and reducing my talking in class .

Best and Worst Jobs of my Life

The best job Ive ever had, would have been when I worked for management corporation. Bellamy management corporation is an government contracted business that helps manage a section of the FAA. The job is located in Washington, DC where I was an IT intern. While working there I learned a lot more about computers and computer networking, which is one of the main reasons I say this was my best job Ive ever had. I sat around on a computer all day and managed the networks while cleaning of other employees computers and keeping the computers safe from virus. The best thing about working for the government was having an government badge which allowed me access to all the government managed buildings in Washington,DC with no problems or hassles. Working for the Bellamy management team also helped me network with very important people from different places throughout the world, with various job types and titles. Byfar working for the government is the best job to ever obtain.
The worst job Ive ever had, was working for my uncle in Hayward as the lead supervisor of custodial at Heald college. Working for, or with your family never works out the way you would suspect. I rarely did labor, but the times I did have to clean were the worst days of my life. Cleaning after other peoples messes in the classrooms and there bathrooms. Even being the supervisor was horrible, because the other employees rarely wanted to listen or do the duty correctly which lead me to firing quite a few people, especially when they acted as if I was INFERIOR to them. With my extended work resume I now have a feel for what I want to do in life.

The Amish

Hate crimes can be very violent and malicious. The events in today’s news always have a horrible story ending with death or someone being hospitalized. There’s a recent event going on in the news today about a hate crime against an Amish community in Eastern Ohio. Knowing that a hate crime is a federal offense, I never expected the FBI to be involved in such an outlandish crime. This hate crime caught my attention due to the severity of cutting of an Amish man’s beard or an Amish woman’s hair. The reason this is considered a hate crime is because, once married; the men of an Amish community grows the beard out, and the woman don’t cut their hair. So a group of Amish that wanted to leave the community was harassed for attempting to do so. So as revenge the group of seven went to the community and began heinous crimes against the Amish community in Ohio. I feel that a hate crime is never to be dealt with lightly, but as for it being a federal offense; thats ridiculous. Especially if its not a Death or beating. On the contrary, I can see it as being the beginning of a never ending cycle that can cause violence. In this case I do feel that the Amish should jsut ban the the group of seven, it shouldn't be taking into federal offenses because its within the Amish community where it started so it should end there.
