ONES ALMA MATER

The high school  I attended was very diverse. We actually had the black cafeteria and the white cafeteria. Sounds Segregated, but it was like that at lunch, and it wasn't like either race couldn't go to into each cafeteria. it was just set up that way by the students. My freshman year the school started up one of the highest schools tested schools in 2004. The campus is the second largest campus in northern California, and also fairly new. Which leads to the school looking pretty well kept up and clean. At the local walmart you are able to purchase Deer valley Clothing and even Round table and other dining places supported the school with a poster or something from a individual team. So most of the locals actually supported the school on ways. When it came to the teachers, i can say most of the teachers genuinely wanted postivie outcomes for most of the students.  With that said, you passing and graduating was all up to the students effort.

Urban Dialect

Today’s urban society plays a great part in the youth’s speech. Growing up in the 90’s which was the major Hip Hop era, heavily influenced the way I talk. Watching rap music videos and listening to a particular music also influences my speech since I was young. It’s not like I sat there and studied the slang words or even the urban jargon. It just attached due my peers and the music that I was interested in. Most people that listen to a certain genre of music tend to use the words of the music that they listen too. It’s not statistically proven it’s somewhat of a stereotype that most would agree that is true. When it comes to your peers, you tend to speak a certain way with them due to the comfort level. Usually that pertains to however your friends speak while you’re around each other, because once you get around your family or parents you begin to censor your words. Once I get into a professional setting my tone and jargon switches, most of the time it’s not even intentional.  So if i grew up on a different genre, i definitely would have a different vocabulary around my friends, maybe even a different set of friends.
